Trauma Informed Care Workshops

Trauma Informed Care (TIC) and Building Trauma Informed Communities

The TIC workshops are designed to explore the components of Trauma Informed Care. Statistics tell us that an individual’s experience of trauma impacts every area of human functioning - physical, mental, behavioral, social, and spiritual. CDC estimates one in four children experiences maltreatment (physical, sexual and emotional abuse).  Trauma is often hidden in secrecy and denial. Assessing trauma is now the expectation and not the exception in behavioral healthcare.

  • What are risk factors associated with past traumatic experiences?

  • What are the multi-systemic treatment modalities used to treat past trauma?

  • What does trauma-informed care look like?

Participant Outcomes

  • Deepen the knowledge base and understanding of the effects of trauma on physical, social and emotional functioning.

  • Ability to identify past traumatic experiences and how they are effecting the person’s life experience.

  • Providing a safe atmosphere and therapeutic relationship that fosters support including extended partnerships with community agencies and professionals.

  • Evaluate the benefit of collaborative and specialized approach in order to address significant specific student mental health needs related to past trauma.
